Imbadu Workshop 16 June

Dear Imbadu-Men,

At our last steering committee meeting we have decided to offer a one-day Imbadu workshop on 16 June at the Centre. Please feel free to forward or print out the attachments and pass on as widely as possible (friends, church folk, colleagues, family, enemies…).

IMBADU MEN'S PROJECT - WORKSHOP

Date: 16 June 2012 (9h00-17h00)
Venue: Centre for Christian Spirituality, 1 Chapel Rd. (off Main Rd), Rosebank
Contribution: R150 including tea and light lunch (bursaries available)
Facilitators:
Laurie Gaum, Dutch Reformed minister, affiliated to the Centre for Chr. Spirituality
Arthur Rengqu, Uniting Reformed Church evangelist
Lesley Thomas, facilitator of Alternatives to Violence Project and Imbadu workshops
John Freeth, Anglican priest, counsellor and psychotherapist

Then, just a few short update snippets:

-          At the steering committee meeting there was another round of talking about our name. A suggestion was "Imbadu – New Masculinities"
-          At the same meeting we were talking about the Zuma-Art-Discussion and there is an idea of Imbadu creating a public space to talk about the issue under the perspective of masculinity/masculinities.
-          Arthur, Les, Jeremy and I were having a presentation and taster with a small group of ministers of the Dutch Reformed and Uniting Reformed Church in Stellenbosch. It was a good morning with interesting discussions and questions that were raised. There will be a follow-up meeting with a smaller group on 15 June.
-          On 6 June Imbadu is invited to make a presentation at the monthly ecumenical circuit meeting in Stellenbosch, which is a great opportunity for exposure with many different churches around the Stellenbosch area.
-          Lastly, we are still looking forward to following up our process with the men in Langa (Tiyo Soga congregation) as well as starting processes with J.L. Zwane as well as the New Apostolic Church in Mitchell's Plain.

Peace and Blessings,

Christoph
